"I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance."

This is my beautiful and rebellious grandfather and stand-in-dad, Squizzy Taylor. He is showing me how to dance in 1975.

And this is me all those years .. and all that dancing later, showing you.

  19. Nice use of the lawnmower there, Eden ;)

I got up and danced "with" you - you got a bit too cool busting your moves out at the end for me though, I'm a bit too awkward for such complex moves.

Is that a motorbike in your front entrance?!

  32. Awesome! That was the best - and I loved the credits too.

Dancing well involves the ability to move body parts independently of each other. I am mostly incapable of that (and of loosening up). But I don't let that stop me!

Keep dancing - and get your boys up there too.

  33. Love the hair and the green jeans - but obsessed with the "schmoopsie" dance move - not sure if I've spelt it correctly but it's got it all over the sprinkler x

  34. i have so much to say about this post and yet don't have the ability to get it all out properly, so may need to either email you or do a post of my own.

  37. I guess I'm just too quick.

You make it look so easy! I caught myself trying to memorize some of your fabulous moves, but that's not your point at all, is it?

    You are, as ever, inspiring.

  38. You are HOT! I am sitting in bed with my laptop, earphones in so I don't wake the hubby (it's midnight) and halfway through your vlog my body is bouncing around, I am smiling and wishing I could crank this LOUD and dance with you.

    You're hot Eden. Girl crush.

  39. Holy crap. It's Rocco in a dress!

You are spectacular. Makin butter. Ah. Those were the days.

Okay. A mental picture for your laughing pleasure. I had to take 3credits of dance when I was in college. GAH. I had to kill it in a summer session and I ended up in African Dance . AD is awesome. Not so awesome is me, the self-conscious, scrawy Irish kid, trying to figure out how the hell to bob my palms-to-the-floor to twice the beats-per-second as I lifted my knees to my crouching chest. It was like, rub your stomach/pat your head from hell. (To this day, the word Jazzercise makes me cringe ... like exercise isn't annoying enough, it has to make me feel uncoordinated and stupid, too?) Anyway ... African Dance ... coolest instructor ever. Her name was "Fern Hyphenated-Lastname." She's famous, actually. Has her own African Dance troupe. Arty Wisewoman Oldsoul with shaved head and cool jewelry. You know the type. She RAVED about our class. How well we were doing/how talented. Told us everyone was getting an "A." I got a "B." And I think that was just because I showed up, she knew the credits were mandatory and she didn't ever want to see my pale ass again.

You have to video Dave and the drums. Please. :)

  43. Are you sure you aren't classically trained?
Poetry in motion. Love your abandon. I am on way to my dance studio- think I might pull all the fledging ballerinas in to a prayer circle and pray we can all find the black man trapped inside.
Starting the day with a smile and may I add a throbbing, pulsing sensation as my inner groove gets louder.

  44. BROZE - LOVING the shorter do man - and the green jeans, HOT!!! Freaken love your wild abandon - Jonnie says you're on crack! LOVE you man xxooxx

  45. Amazing. Loved this so much. I was a dancer (then got too old and too many injuries to continue), but sometimes I do blast music at home and dance the day away. It is the only time I feel completely free of my anxieties. For me, dance gives me a sense of freedom that I can't seem to find anywhere else.

    Thanks for reminding me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Goddamn you're sexy! And wise. And funny. And so real.
Loved it so much! You rock babe!

  48. Crying.

Crying b/c that dance says what words can't,

    Fuck you, Cancer!

Fuck you, the shit from growing up.

Fuck you, to what life decided to throw my way.

    FUCK YOU!

I will dance with my cock out.

    Oh, Eden...you..just don't know.

That little screen isn't big enough to contain you.

You need to Full Screen your life.

    Thank You.

    xo

  49. You're the sexiest bitch. I will never dance alone again without thinking of this. xoxo

  50. Seriously dude, Z is addicted to your video. Everytime I am on the computer she says "E-a-me's" and then bobbles her head in her universal sign for dancing. She wanted to watch you when ELMO was on.

She loves the putting on the hooded sweatshirt, glasses and lolly.

  51. I was at a wedding on the weekend. There was a dance floor. It had a pole. What could I do but dance.
It may have taken me until I'm almost 40 but I get it - and if people are watching? Well sucks to be them sitting in their chairs while I two step with a pole to Dancing Queen.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You, Eden, are CLASSIC! You are so much more inspiring than so many of the blogs I read, because you are just so GODDAM REAL! Love it :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thank you! I haven't done that for years. It's one of those things that I forgot makes me feel hap, hap, hap, happy! I'm tempted to get my groove on now.. but I'll wake the kiddies and the hubsta up. Tomorrow I'll rock out with my cock out.
And everyone else is right, you have the moves gurl x

  54. I have always, ALWAYS danced alone. And with others. But alone, too. And that is maybe the best fun.

Current vibe - I am definitely feeling 'dancing while doing the dishes' - takes the mundane right into my joy zone. Oh, yeah!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Mate, you are so fucking funny! And I LOVED dancing in front of my computer with you - hilarious and most of all, liberating!

  56. You're a modern day Mork.

    And I love you.

  57. I have NEVER danced in my loungeroom, either with or without abandon.

Seriously .. am I even alive???

The music will be cranking tomorrow, and my kids will be very very afraid and embarrassed ... and that will rock :)

    Always. Love your heart.
    K xx
